I had back to back bad experiences with these guys. First, I had a death in the family and had to leave town. I needed 2 shots to board my dog and they were too busy to get me in over a 2 day period. I called Vetcetera and despite being completely booked the vet stayed late to get me in. Second, my cat needed a tooth extracted and over the phone was quoted 3-4 hundred dollars. Upon arriving and prior to any examination the price was upped to minimum 700 and possibly more after an examination. I have switched vets and couldn't be happier with that decision
I need to clarify that I am reviewing only Dr. Broshkevitch, who is the Chief of Staff at Mountain Shadow. He is the best there is and Mt. Shadow is extremely fortunate to have him. Unlike many vets (or the clinics' corporate owners), who view pets and owners as merely generators of revenue, Dr. B. actually cares about your pet's health and happiness. He is compassionate and provides the best care, with cost in mind. I am a tough customer: Dr. Broshkevitch is FABULOUS! I drive 1.5 to 2 hours to see him, and it is not an easy ride; but, if my cats are really sick, it is most definitely worth the drive! Several years ago, Dr. B. saved my cat Fluffy, late one night during an emergency visit: even before blood tests, Dr. B. started treating Fluffy for hemolytic disease. The next day, the blood test showed a hemoglobin of only FOUR! Dr. B. used his own cat to give Fluffy a blood transfusion. Since treatment, Fluffy has had a good, healthy life, and we made the switch to Dr. B. When he moved from Loyalsock to Mt. Shadow, I decided it was worth the drive. Since then, he has continued to see all of my cats. Last summer, Charlie was horribly ill on a Friday and there wasn't time to get him to Dr. B. I took him to another local vet and wasted lots of money (and they still wanted to do all kinds of x-rays, etc..that were totally unrelated...) On Monday, Charlie was worse. I got him to Dr. B., who saved his life. More than a week of hospitalization and excellent care from the clinic. Many local cats died from the illness that was going around. Charlie Q. Bear survived! Dr. Broshkevitch is ALWAYS RIGHT! He just has great instincts with cats. Since I have nine rescued cats, I don't have money to waste on senseless posh care; but I actually save money going to Dr. B, because he has great diagnostic skills and his treatments WORK! He treats the animals with compassion and he is fantastic at handling hysterical owners like me. He always tells me what it could be; but he follows it up with what he believes it most likely is and why. He gives me treatment options that will work, and what he thinks is best based on outcome and the extent of my funds. HE IS VERY REASSURING! When he tells me, "I promise, that we will do the best we can to make him well." I know that it is true! I sure do wish that his practice were closer; but he is the best and he gets highest marks from me and my cats!
They are reasonable prices and they care about my pets
We have tried other Vets in the area and this place is amazing!! Dr. Maslyn and Dr. B both are compassionate animal lovers who take time to get to know your furbuddy. They have no problem sitting on the floor to play and pet your animal! They are priced comparably to other Vets in the area and provide text and email alerts for appointmemts
Truly pleasantly surprised! Fantastic staff, with great demeanor, attentive, neighborly welcoming attitudes. It didn't stop there at the front desk, it was all employees!! Clear to the Veterinarians. Well worth the drive and time. My babies were taken care of, we were treated with respect and so were the pups. The Vet answered all our questions and concerns. All worries were put at ease and any education that was given to us was NOT in a "looking down their nose" way. The waiting room was done in calming colors with amazing photography of animals and a scrap book of their Grand Opening to the present day, sharing their story and commitment to our furry friends and the community. Gourmet doggy cookies were available for sale and of course the little free cookies at the reception desk for the "good patient". Thank you all for your tremendous efforts, tender, caring ways. So great full for all of you and your sincere efforts to provide such a truly great service.
